Day 1 (Saturday) Today you will fly early in the morning to the ancient town of Lalibela where you will check in to the Maribela Hotel. Over the course of the day, you will visit the UNESCO world heritage church complex. In the mid-morning, you will take the time to visit the towns’ market, which plays host to many villagers from the surrounding mountains. A quick Lunch back at Maribela Hotel, will prepare you for the rest of your church visits in the afternoon. In the evening, you will be invited to visit a local culture house, where traditional dancers and singers will entertain you before retiring to your hotel room.
Day 2(Sunday) You will start today at sunrise, and visit the Sunday mass at the rock hewn churches before breakfast. A mid morning flight from Lalibela airport will take you to the next stop of your trip, The City of Gondar. Between the 17th and 19th Centuries, Gondar was the Capital of Ethiopia, and you will visit the castles built to project the power of king Fasilides and have earnt the city the nickname of the Camelot of Africa.
In the morning you will explore King Fasilides Castle compound, a large complex of ruined structures at the centre of the city. A short walk to the central Piazza will bring you to the terrace of the Quara hotel for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will be driven to the overgrown Fasilides Baths, and visit DebreBerhan Selassie Church.
Tonight you will sleep at a local Hotel in Gondar.
Day 3 (Monday) Today there will be another early start on our very busy and packed tour. You will drive from Gondar to the lakeside city of Bahir Dar, and spend the day boating on the lake visiting monasteries and churches situated in lush islands, you will also see fishermen’s' characteristic reed boats ample bird life including Pelicans and if you are lucky, a Hippo or two.
After a lakeside dinner, the evening flight from Bahir Dar will take you to Addis Ababa.
Lalibela is a must visit destination for anyone wishing to visit Ethiopia, and this tour allows you to visit the highlights of the area over a long weekend.
