Arba minch, literally translated as forty springs, is surrounded by an intensely beautiful landscape littered with hills, lakes and mature forests.


The adjoining Nechi Sar Park, famed for its mature forest, and white savanna fields, provides a calming respite from the heat of the city. Although wildlife has dwindled in the last years due to incursions by local farmers, it is still often possible to see zebra, Gazelles and Bushbucks


Further wildlife can also be seen on an excursion to Lake Chamo, where boat rides bring visitors scarily close to crocodiles, hippos and an assortment of local birdlife.


The Dorze tribe, with its unique and shapely woven bamboo huts, are located on the hills to the north of the city and can be visited over the course half a day, although local community trekking that allows for a longer stay and local landscapes to be explored, is highly advised.

Arba Minch merits several days stay and can be accessed via it’s own airport.
